Earth-295
Age Of Apocalypse
Active
Earth-295, known as the Age of Apocalypse, is a divergent reality created when Charles Xavier was killed before he could found the X-Men, allowing Apocalypse to conquer much of the world and reshape it according to his philosophy of survival of the fittest.
The timeline of Earth-295 was created when the mutant Legion traveled back in time with the intention of killing Magneto, believing that removing Magneto from history would allow his father, Charles Xavier, to live a peaceful life. Instead, Legion accidentally killed Xavier before the formation of the X-Men, fundamentally altering the course of history.
In the aftermath of Xavier’s death, Magneto vowed to honor his friend’s dream of coexistence between humans and mutants. However, without Xavier’s leadership and vision, the world lacked a unifying force capable of guiding mutant-human relations during a critical period of emergence.

The battle involving Legion and the time-displaced X-Men was broadcast across the world, revealing the existence of mutants to humanity years earlier than in the primary timeline. This premature exposure accelerated global tensions and triggered widespread fear and conflict.
Seizing this moment, Apocalypse abandoned his traditional cycle of dormancy and initiated his conquest of the world far earlier than he would have otherwise. With the Avengers and Fantastic Four not yet formed, and global powers unprepared for such a threat, Apocalypse rapidly established dominance, particularly over North America, which became the center of his empire.
Under Apocalypse’s rule, society was reshaped into a brutal hierarchy governed by strength. Humans were systematically culled, and mutants were subjected to constant trials to prove their worth. Entire populations were exterminated in acts of genocide designed to eliminate perceived weakness. Apocalypse’s forces, led by his Horsemen, enforced his will across the continent.
One of Apocalypse’s most devastating acts was the decimation of North America’s human population, including nuclear strikes that destroyed major cities. Survivors were either enslaved, hunted, or forced into hiding. Meanwhile, Europe remained one of the last strongholds of organized human resistance, governed by the Human High Council, which struggled to maintain order while facing the constant threat of annihilation.
Magneto, carrying on Xavier’s legacy, formed the X-Men in this dark timeline. Unlike their counterparts in other realities, these X-Men operated as a resistance force rather than idealistic heroes. Their mission was not coexistence, but survival and eventual overthrow of Apocalypse’s regime. Despite their efforts, they remained outmatched for much of their existence, fighting a prolonged and increasingly desperate war.
Hope emerged with the arrival of Bishop, a time-displaced mutant who retained memories of the original timeline. Bishop revealed that this reality was not meant to exist and that Xavier’s death had created a catastrophic divergence. Believing that history could be corrected, Magneto redirected his efforts toward restoring the original timeline.
The X-Men launched a final assault on Apocalypse’s stronghold while allied forces worked to secure the M’Kraan Crystal, a nexus of all realities capable of repairing the timeline. During the battle, Magneto defeated Apocalypse, killing him and ending his reign.
Despite this victory, the timeline itself began to collapse as reality corrected itself. The original timeline was restored, but Earth-295 did not immediately cease to exist. Instead, it persisted as a fractured and unstable reality.
In the aftermath, nuclear warheads launched by human forces struck North America, devastating what remained of Apocalypse’s empire. Magneto and the surviving X-Men endured, forced to rebuild in a world already pushed to the brink of extinction.
Subsequent events revealed that fragments of the Age of Apocalypse timeline continued to exist, with survivors and remnants appearing in other realities. This persistence demonstrated that even corrected timelines can leave lasting echoes within the multiverse.
