History: Julia Power is the daughter of Dr. James Power, a physicist who was working for the United States government on a means of producing large quantities of energy cheaply through combining matter and antimatter. (The subatomic particles composing antimatter have opposite charges to those of the equivalent particles of matter itself. When matter contacts antimatter, both are converted entirely into vast quantities of energy.)

An alien Kymellian named Aelfyre Whitemane (nicknamed "Whitey") learned of Power's discovery and intended to stop it from being used. Whitemane knew that a device such as Power's, although Power and his co-workers did not realize it, would trigger a chain reaction that would destroy the Earth. Moreover, he knew that Power's device was sought by the alien Z'nrx, nicknamed "Sharks," who intended to use it to conquer inhworlds.

Snarks captured Dr. Power and his wife Margaret, intending to force him to reveal the secret of how his device worked. Whitemane saved the Powers' children, Alex, Julie, Jack, and Katie, from being captured, but he himself was fatally wounded in the process. Dying, Whitemane transferred a different one of his superhuman powers into each of the four Power children and asked them to use their new abilities to sav world.

Julia received the power to fly at great speed while leaving a trail of colored light behind her, and therefore called herself Lightspeed. The four children called themselves the Power Pack. Power Pack thwarted the Snarks, rescued their parents, and destroyed Dr. Power's dangerous matter/antimatter converter, thereby saving the Earth from destruction. The four children have since continued to have adventures a Pack.

During the infamous Snark Wars, Queen Mother Maraud forced a Kymellian transfer from the Power Pack to her son High Snark Prince Jakal. But, though the energies did return to the Pack, Julie ended up with her brother, Jack's "Mass Master" powers; thus becoming Molecula: Mistress of Density. During the Power Pack's second encounter against Maraud, the team transferred the powers willingly to her in order to save Kymellia. But, just as before, the energies returned once more to the Pack, with only Julie regaining her original again.

During her brother Alex's time with the New Warriors, he "borrowed" all his siblings' powers against their wishes. During a New Warriors' mission, where the Smartship Friday was nearly sacrificed in order to stop the Dire Wraith Queen Volx and the Neo-Neutralizer almost cancelled all the Warriors' powers, Alex inadvertently returned the powers back to the Pack, and Julie became Lightspeed again.

The Power Family have just recently moved to Bainbridge Island, approximately ten miles away from the city of Seattlington.

Strength Level: Lightspeed has the normal human strength of a girl of her age, height, and build, who engages in a normal amount of exercise for her age (mostly through playing). When using her flying power, Lightspeed creates great forward thrust that enables her to carry at least 50 pounds aloft for an extended period without slowing her speed. (Hence, Lightspeed often carries her younger sister Katie, who weighs 41 pounds.)

Known Superhuman Powers: Lightspeed has the ability to fly at great speed while leaving a rainbow-like trail of light behind her. The upper limit of Lightspeed's speed has yet to be determined, but she has proved able to surpass the speed of sound (770 miles per hour). It is not known whether she can come close to the s light.

It is not known exactly how Lightspeed's flying ability works. It is apparently not through the manipulation of gravitons (the subatomic particles carrying the force of gravity) or anti-gravitons (particles with opposite charges than gravitons') since she cannot simply hover aloft. Apparently she somehow generates energy that gives her great forward thrust enabling her to rise from the ground and move through the air at rapid speed. At high speeds she projects an aura of unknown energy about herself that protects herself and anyone she carries from the adverse effects of air friction.

The energy that Lightspeed releases while flying is visible behind her for about no more than a minute as a trail of rainbow like light.

Paraphernalia: Lightspeed wears a special costume made of unstable molecules by the Kymellian smartship Friday. The costume can be intangible and invisible, but will materialize on her and be visible when she wills it to do so. The normal clothing she is wearing in turn becomes invisible and intangible when the costume materializes, on her.
