The Korbinites were once a highly advanced and peaceful civilization native to the planet Korbin within the region known as the Burning Galaxy. For untold generations, they developed sophisticated technology and a stable society, placing strong emphasis on scientific advancement and collective survival rather than conquest.
Their civilization came to a catastrophic end when the fire demon Surtur and his legions ravaged the Burning Galaxy as part of his efforts to forge the Twilight Sword. Korbin was destroyed, and the Korbinites were driven to the brink of extinction.
Known History
In response, the Korbinites implemented a desperate but highly organized survival strategy. The majority of their population was placed into suspended animation aboard a massive convoy of starships known as the Great Fleet. These vessels were designed to carry the remnants of their species across space in search of a new habitable world.
Recognizing the vulnerability of the fleet during its long journey, the Korbinites used their advanced scientific knowledge to create a single champion to act as their protector. Through a combination of genetic engineering and cybernetic augmentation, they transformed one of their own into a powerful guardian capable of defending the fleet against cosmic threats. This individual became known as Beta Ray Bill.
Under the protection of their champion, the Korbinites traveled through space for an extended period, facing numerous dangers including hostile forces, environmental hazards, and lingering threats connected to the destruction of their home galaxy. Despite these challenges, the species endured, demonstrating a strong collective resilience and commitment to survival.
At various points in their history following the destruction of Korbin, the Korbinites succeeded in establishing new settlements, most notably the world known as New Korbin. However, their continued existence remained precarious, as their reduced population and reliance on external protection left them vulnerable to further cosmic threats.
The history of the Korbinites is defined not by expansion or conquest, but by survival against extinction. Their legacy is closely tied to their technological ingenuity and their decision to entrust the fate of their species to a single champion, a choice that has shaped their continued existence within the Marvel Universe.
