Earth-65
Spider-Gwen Universe
Active
Earth-65 is an alternate reality within the Marvel Multiverse most notable for being the home of Gwen Stacy, who in this universe becomes the spider-powered hero instead of Peter Parker. Known widely as Spider-Woman, and later Ghost-Spider, Gwen’s existence defines this reality as one of the most prominent Spider-variant universes.

In Earth-65, Gwendolyn Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider, granting her superhuman abilities. Unlike Earth-616, where Peter Parker becomes Spider-Man, this reality sees Gwen take on the mantle of a spider-powered hero. Her early career was marked by tragedy when her close friend Peter Parker, desperate for recognition, transformed himself into the Lizard using a chemical formula. In a confrontation with Gwen, Peter died, leaving Gwen burdened with guilt and public blame.
The death of Peter Parker became a defining moment for this reality. Gwen was widely viewed as responsible for his death, and public opinion turned against her. Even her father, Captain George Stacy of the NYPD, initially pursued Spider-Woman as a criminal, unaware that she was his daughter.
Despite these challenges, Gwen continued her dual life as both a superhero and a musician, performing as the drummer for the band known as the Mary Janes. This creative outlet provided emotional balance as she struggled with her responsibilities and isolation.
Earth-65 is characterized by alternate versions of many familiar Marvel characters. Matt Murdock serves as the Kingpin of crime rather than a hero, while Frank Castle operates as a relentless law enforcer pursuing Spider-Woman. Cindy Moon becomes a significant figure connected to the origins of Gwen’s powers, and Mary Jane Watson plays a central role in Gwen’s civilian life.
During the Spider-Verse event, Gwen was drawn into a multiversal conflict involving the Inheritors, joining other Spider-powered heroes from across realities. She became a key participant in the Spider-Army and later the Web-Warriors, helping protect the stability of the multiverse.
Following these events, Gwen’s identity was eventually revealed to the public, including her father. This revelation strained but ultimately strengthened their relationship, as Captain Stacy came to understand her role as a hero.
Gwen later began traveling regularly between Earth-65 and Earth-616, even enrolling in college in the primary Marvel Universe. To distinguish herself from other spider-themed heroes, she adopted the name Ghost-Spider while maintaining her identity as Spider-Woman within her native reality.
Earth-65 continues to exist as a major Spider-variant reality, frequently intersecting with multiversal events and remaining closely tied to the broader Web of Life and Destiny.
