History: Thomas Gideon, son of billionaire Gregory
Gideon, was flying in a private jet with his father
and mother when it was caught in the heat-pulse and
blast wave of a Russian nuclear weapon test. The plane
crashed, killing all but Thomas and his father. Picked
up by a Russian trawler, the two Gideons were eventually
hospitalized. There they were told that they were dying
of radiation poisoning. The elder Gideon spent his remaining
months designing a device to tap the mutated genes of
the Fantastic Four to somehow reverse his cellular decay
(and that of his son) at the expense of the Fantastic
Four's lives. His selfish scheme thwarted, Gideon was
killed when his pawn, the Dragon Man, broke free of
his control. In the midst of the wreckage appeared the
Shaper of Worlds, attracted to the site by the dreams
of one of Gideon's henchmen. Though the henchman's dreams
proved inadequate, the Shaper took Thomas Gideon, cured
him of his fatal disease, and helped him attain his
true potential. As Glorian, the young Gideon has undertaken
to learn the Shaper's skills.
Still an Earthling at heart, Glorian often returned
to Earth and involved himself in the lives of its superheroes.
At one point, Glorian tried to help the monster known
as the Hulk by giving him his heart's desire. Instead,
however, Hulk became involved in a plot against Glorain
by the demon Satannish, who who was after Glorian's
soul. In the end, the Hulk intervened on behalf of Glorian,
and so saved Glorian from Satannish's grasp. Later,
Glorian was attracted to the fevered dreams of the young
mutants known as Generation X. Glorian helped the mutants
from being lost at sea.
Height: 5 ft. 9 ft.
Weight: 155 lbs
Eyes: Pink
Hair: Orange
Skin:
Gold
Strength Level: Glorian possesses the normal
human strength of a man of his age, height, and build,
who engages in occasional regular exercise. His Shaper-enhanced
form has not been endowed with any additional physical
powers.
Known Superhuman Powers: Glorian possesses the
ability to tap and manipulate tachyons, a group of particles
which travel no slower than the speed of light (as contrasted
with our universe's particles, which seem to demonstrate
the property of traveling no faster than the speed of
light). Glorian uses tachyons to create hyper spatial
bridges that resemble arcs of refracted light, or rainbows.
Glorian can create these rainbow bridges at will, and
by stepping upon them, is able to transport himself
at trans-light speeds wherever he wishes to go. He can
use the bridge to travel across the surface of a world
or between star systems. The maximum distance he can
bridge is not yet known. When Glorian steps upon the
bridge, the particles of his body are converted to tachyon
particle analogues, freeing him from such physical limitations
as needing air or food during his travels through space.
Glorian can also will the bridge to accept passengers
other than himself, providing that he is there to "operate"
it. Theoretically, Glorian could use the tachyons' rainbow
effect for other uses than transportation, but he has
not yet demonstrated any other capabilities.
As the apprentice to the Shaper of Worlds, Glorian
is learning the Shaper's art of restructuring finite
pockets of reality by mentally manipulating the cosmic
energies that bind atoms along probability lines. At
present, Glorian is able to mentally restructure the
perceived reality of a volume with a maximum radius
of 5.02 miles in all directions from his person. (This
is in contrast with the Shaper's ability to restructure
reality of a volume with a maximum radius of 5,023.2
miles.) Glorian is able to maintain this restructured
reality for a maximum period of 23.1 hours (contrasted
to the Shaper's limit of 4.23 years). Although Glorian's
(and the Shaper's) powers enact a physical change upon
matter, their power is frequently referred to as illusion.
This is because the restructuring is only temporary
(reality assumes its rest or normal state as soon as
Glorian or the Shaper leave or fail to maintain the
transformed state) and a mere re-creation of the outward
perceptions of a person or environment, not that person
or environment itself.
