Jason Strongbow was born on a Native American reservation in Arizona and was raised within the traditions of his people. As a young man, he worked as a construction laborer and developed a strong respect for community, self-reliance, and the land. His life changed dramatically after an encounter with advanced alien technology.
Strongbow came into possession of an experimental mutagenic device of extraterrestrial origin. When he activated the device, it altered him genetically, enhancing his physical abilities to superhuman levels. Unlike many mutagenic processes, the transformation did not impair his mind or personality, and Strongbow retained full control of his faculties.

Adopting the identity of American Eagle, Strongbow initially operated as an independent hero, using his powers to defend his community and combat threats in the American Southwest. He first came to wider attention when he encountered Thor and aided him in battle, proving himself a courageous and capable ally.
American Eagle later became associated with the Rangers, a loose-knit group of adventurers active in the western United States. Although never among the most prominent national super heroes, he repeatedly distinguished himself through his bravery, physical power, and determination. He often preferred to act close to home, focusing on threats affecting his people and region rather than seeking broader fame.
Throughout his career, Strongbow has confronted criminals, corrupt officials, and superhuman threats alike. He has been especially vigilant against those who would exploit Native lands or endanger the people of the Southwest. During the period in which Norman Osborn exerted extensive influence over national security matters, American Eagle resisted forces aligned with Osborn when their activities threatened his homeland.
Despite opportunities to become more deeply involved with larger superhuman organizations, Jason Strongbow has remained essentially independent, guided by his own principles and responsibilities. His career has consistently reflected his commitment to justice, personal honor, and protection of his community.
Strength Level: The American Eagle possesses superhuman strength, enabling him to lift (press) approximately 15 tons under optimal conditions.
Known Superhuman Powers: American Eagle possesses superhuman physical abilities as a result of exposure to an alien mutagenic device, which altered his physiology at the cellular level. These enhancements primarily affect his strength, speed, endurance, and sensory acuity.
His musculature generates significantly greater force than that of a normal human being, granting him the ability to lift several tons and strike with enough force to damage reinforced materials. His bones, muscles, and connective tissues are correspondingly more resilient than those of an ordinary human, allowing his body to withstand the stresses created by his enhanced strength.
American Eagle also possesses superhuman speed, agility, and reflexes. He is capable of moving, accelerating, and maneuvering at rates well beyond those of the finest human athletes. His reaction time is similarly enhanced, enabling him to respond quickly in combat and evade fast-moving threats.
His senses are more acute than those of an ordinary human. American Eagle's vision, hearing, and general awareness are enhanced to a degree that aids him in tracking opponents, detecting danger, and navigating difficult terrain.
American Eagle's endurance and stamina are likewise superhuman. He can exert himself for extended periods without fatigue and can withstand impacts and physical punishment that would seriously injure a normal human being. Although highly resistant to injury, he is not invulnerable and can be harmed by sufficiently powerful forces or weapons.
In addition to his powers, American Eagle is an accomplished hand-to-hand combatant and an experienced outdoorsman, with considerable skill in survival techniques and the use of conventional tools and weapons when necessary.
American Eagle does not ordinarily employ specialized weaponry or advanced equipment. However, he is skilled in the use of conventional weapons, tools, and survival gear.
